Microsoft have announced that the Xbox Live service for the Original Xbox and all Original Xbox games will cease on the 15th of April 2010.
This is the reason given:
"This change will allow us to continue the evolution of Xbox LIVE, delivering features and experiences that fully harness the power of Xbox 360 and the global Xbox LIVE community of more than 20 million members. The best is yet to come, and we look forward to sharing more details in the near future."
We will endeavour to play as much Burnout 3: Takedown on Xbox Live as we can before the 15th of April 2010. I hope you will join us. Check back for details of a big farewell party over Xbox Live in April!
We have just noticed that Burnout 3: Takedown is no longer available to download for new customers as an Xbox Original from the Xbox Marketplace.
If you have already downloaded the game, but then deleted it click HERE for instructions on how to get your download back.
We sincerely hope this is not an indication that EA are planning to sunset the servers. I went online recently so the servers at the moment are still up and running. I believe the best way to keep the servers running is to show that the game is being played regularly.
If you want Burnout 3: Takedown to still be an online game please play it online NOW. Add the gamertag "BurnoutAholics" to your friends list to be able to message and invite other BurnoutAholics. Post on this site or over at the Xbox forums HERE to set up times for online games.
Long Live Burnout 3: Takedown!!
Today BurnoutAholics hosted the first weekly Wednesday Burnout 3: Takedown event.
Every Wednesday from about 7pm GMT we will be hosting a BurnoutAholics room on Burnout 3: Takedown. This room will be a variety of racing and road rage with a variety of different series locks. We might even throw in some crash junctions!
Please look out for us on Wednesdays, if the room is full, please send us a message, or just host your own room! Hopefully we will be able to get enough people playing to get a few rooms going!
See you Next Wednesday!
We have been in touch with Weil3r that originally wrote some brilliant guides for Burnout 3: Takedown that was published at burnoutelite.com. Since that site is no longer active we asked Weil3r if we could re-publish them here on BurnoutAholics.com.
We got his permission and the guides have now been made available. You can access them directly from the links below:
Burnout 3: Takedown is number 7 of the Original Top XBox Live titles for week 3 2008. The ranking is based on global unique users. This is not a surprising development since the game was released on XBox Originals on the 14th of January.
BurnoutAholics have been hosting lobbies 3 or 4 times since the game was released and the online activity is high. There are lots of new players trying out the game and from what I hear they really seem to enjoy the game.
If you are reading this story and are new to Burnout 3: Takedown you should check out our article about the game here.
"Don't fight traffic... DESTROY IT!"
Burnout 3: Takedown is coming to XBox Originals on Monday 14th of January 2008. The game will cost 1200 Microsoft points and includes all the original features. Some of you might have heard rumors about the Burnout 3 servers being shutdown. This is not true they are live and kicking.
To celebrate the release I have finally completed Part 3 of the "A blast from the past" series. You can read our article about Burnout 3: Takedown here. This will hopefully be interesting to both new and old BurnoutAholics.
Comments have been disabled on the articles and any discussions should be done in this story.
Just got the news! Burnout 3: Takedown servers are back online. Not sure what has been going on but it really is back! WE will get back to you with more information when we find out what has been going on.
We've got a new video out in the Burnout-Takes section today. It's showing drift jumping in Burnout 3: Takedown. The video is from February 2005 and it resurfaced today when I was having a look at some old Burnout-Takes on my computer. This technique was originally discovered by Xandu back in 2004. In the video you will see that I called it a "speed glitch" this is because that I didn't at that point know that it was actually "drift jumping" I was doing. I would guess that other players have discovered this later on as well.
It's not really very useful for anything since controlling your car is really difficult and the risk of crashing is very high. The video does not show how it is actually done it only shows the speeds that can be achieved. On Island Paradise you can get up to speeds around 450 MPH!
