UPDATES 01-09-2013

First of all Happy New Year to all our members.

It has been a while since my last post and ZombieTron thought it was time to do some work on the site so here we go...

Spam was a huge problem for us in 2012, but we have finally won the war. We have only had one successful spam post since we introduced the new system (which was caused by human error). The downside is that it is now more difficult to sign up as a new member since it might take a couple of days to get the account approved. Once we get a regular stream of new legit users we might re-open automatic approval but at the moment we get less than 1 new user a week so it is not really a big deal.

So what have I done to the site today?

1. We now have a chat room! You can post directly from the Chat block to the left or select chat from your menu!

2. Drupal updated to the latest version.

3. Ads by Google have been added to the header at the top of the front page for all users. The reason for this is that we are running this site in our spare time and there are costs related to hosting burnoutaholics.com. We almost get these costs covered by the ads. I hope that by adding the adds to members as well we will break even.

4. I have added a new block to the right left containing the latest tweets from Criterion Games and the people that work there. If you know of more CG twitter accounts please let us know.

5. A g+ button has been added to the right margin. Click it if you like what you read.

6. Moved lots of stuff around.
