Yeah paradise is very different from Nfs, but it is more like NFS than any of the other burnout games are. I believe that they took away the essence of what makes burnout, burnout.
conceptually, they share some similarities but they really are very different games. I beat ProStreet once and started a 2nd pass thru the game before Burnout Paradise was released. While i enjoy both games, Burnout Paradise is much more interesting because of it's open world model (just my opinion).

Nfs/burnout
They seem to be getting closer every year. Now nfs has crashes and burnout has freeroam.
