I posted a question there in the Criterion forums for you all to see........

"I Have Loved. I Have Suffered. Now, I Hate."

Ok, I posted a question for the staff at Criterion.... and I directed it to them... now when I try to enter the Criterion forums it says that Im forbidden to access it? Is there something wrong with the CRiterion website, just having problems, or am I banned? It says that I dont have permission to access it from my computer....

Cant even give me a serious answer for a serious question??

You weren't banned. Alex closed the Criterion forums for good.

Jinno Angelo's picture

I asked one question..... And the response is a closed forum? Its not like Im trying to start anything there, whether he gave me his opinion or whether I agreed or not with it makes no difference... I just wanted an answer...

Its disappointing tho, and Im disappointed with that decision of closing down the forums... I dont think that it was necessary at all.....

I mean seriously, to me, to you? Im worked up about this...Seriously, What does that make him look like?

Your question was hardly the cause of the shutdown. While I don't know exactly what put the final nail in the coffin I would have to guess it was Loganthedog's post regarding the IP ban they attempted to place on him.

There have been several people who deliberately stirred things up over there and I think it just reached the point where they got sick of it.

As for this site being the one (or one of the ones) that was referred to, I don't really think there has been much posted here that contributed. Rather there are forums where you will find people who have been banned from the CG forums basically calling everyone at CG idiots for banning them and pretty much flaming everything they did. I'm sure that didn't help

Rofer's picture

A long time agao from the criterion forums. They banned my IP adress so i can't even make new accounts. Alex douche ward is just stuck up in his own ignorance, and cannot take negativity in a way that is constructive. If you even come close to saying that revenge is the best burnout then you would be banned. So much for freedom of speech and freedom of opinion. I hope those forums stay dead forever because they are extremely biased for paradise players and the truth is paradise sucks and the only people who like it are either noobs or are altogether new to the burnout series (burnout noobs).

Jinno Angelo's picture

Just to let you know Rofer, the question I asked him was:

Seeing how No one goes into the Revenge forums anymore, Revenge fans cant post their opinions on how to make Revenge better, so In turn we go to the Paradise forums because it is the only place where our opinions can heard or answered. While our intention is not to start wars or flame people, it is to let our opinions be heard about how dissatisfied we are with Paradise. But although we are dissatisfied with Paradise, we are also keeping Burnout alive by playing these previous titles such as Revenge.

Now, although a minority of us do post about how we dont like Paradise, the majority of the people who complain about Paradise can be satisfied by creating one or two tracks for Revenge. If he says that he reads other forums, maybe even this one, and he knows what he want, how come he hasnt created one or two tracks to keep the Revenge players satisfied when we in turn already have suggested that we will buy credits and pay for it? Even long time players will probably pay for new tracks again. As a developer of the game, is he supposed to just let the Revenge players left out? Are we as Revenge players who are not satisfied with Paradise supposed to just let this one slide? After all, it is the hardcore players and the ones dedicated to the series that do stay with the games and keep them alive....

This question was answered by zerojay, and I gave thanks to zero for replying but I directed this question namely to the staff at Criterion... I didnt even get an answer back except a closed forum... As I said, it was not my intention to start a war, it was just a serious question that deserves a serious answer...

Now he can answer this and say that financially, it might not be the best idea for them... I would have accepted that, I wasnt flaming when I asked the question... But I got a closed forum as a response...

I have made very serious question posts like this in their forums aswell, I diddn't even say anything to get on their nerves like "paradise is for noobs"or something i had posted long very thought out questions with exactly the same idea as you and every time my posts would get deleted and i wold be banned right away. really if you even bring the idea that some people play revenge instead of paradise then they will all have a pissy fit and get you out of their forums. So the fact of the matter is, that they just don't want the paradise fans to even get a hint that some people think that paradise ruined the whole series, because then they might lose their presious paradise fans or something oh no!!

Whatever was posted on the forum or on any other website can't really be that bad, can it?, looks like they were clean outta pinches of salt.

Probley for the best to be honest, all the pandering was a bit too much tbh, get ready for the influx of minions finger pointing, point away.

I got a video of a real burnout game and then a vid of a game that is called burnout. See if you can tell the difference between the two. And don't pay attention to how good the graphics are because that is irrelevant in this comparison.

I admit that the driver makes this game seem alright but i can stilll see the difference very clearly. See how in the fake burnout you can't hold the top speed of the car therefore it takes away from the burnout experience making experienced burners pissed and not so experienced burners left confused. You can also see clearly that there are many split turns that should never exist in burnout because for turns like these it forces the driver to actually slow their car down somewhat and slowing down is a burners worst nightmare.

What did I miss?? I had one quiet moment this afternoon at work where I looked on here and saw the Kev? blog, so I went to the CG forums to see what was going on.. but then my boss wanted me to move stations so I had to log off before I could see anything.. now I am home and the forums are gone??

Oh well, I was just saying to Xandu yesterday how extremely boring the CG forum had become over the last few anyway, so it really isn't a huge loss to the community IMO.

I think it would be nice for CG to put up a page explaining why they closed the forums and thanking us all for our contributions over the last however long the forums have been open, instead of just webpage not found. They have updated the webpage to remove the forum links, it's kind of like the forum never existed!

I'm sure Alex, and some other members of the Burnout Team may still lurk on the fansites, and we may even see them post again.

And to all those who comment about Burnout Team members personally and call them names.. Please don't.

Alex Ward and the rest of the team were all really lovely to us when we went to visit them, and although we may not agree with the direction the Burnout Series has taken in the last year, there is no need to insult people on a personal level. Please keep your criticism constructive!

It was fun having an official forum. It could of been run a lot better, but it's not easy to manage a forum that is as active as the official forum was.

Thank You to Criterion Games for providing us with an official forum, and for answering all (or most) of our questions, even the really silly ones! It was AWESOME to be able to have the kind of contact that the forum provided!

I'm sorry it had to end like this, and I hope you will learn from the experience of having an official forum and consider creating another one some time down the road.

well hands up for nito......i thought what you posted was a decent enough question, in fact its probably what weve all been thinking. i cant beleive that theyve closed it down, whether it had anything to do with what you posted or not i think its crazy. maybe they cant take all the constructive criticism thats thrown at them, but if they cant handle what theyre hearing then why not do something about it. surely closing the forums down wont solve the question in hand.

Jinno Angelo's picture

Yeah, Im pointing fingers ROFLMAO!!  I will say that maybe it was my question that did drive that final nail into the coffin.. Im not sure if it was or not, but I will say that I think that Im entitled to ask them as someone who purchased games from them with B2, B3, BR, and BP.

Im worried that this might have a lasting impression or effect on both CG and the gamers who play these games, whether they be good or bad, but i think as of right now its clearly leaning to the bad side.. After all, I dont think that they should have closed the forums due to people voicing their opinions..

On the plus side... Hello Zero, I guess well be seeing you more here.. LOL..

Although the timing of his post may not have helped matters.

There were offensive and abusive posts directed at Criterion Games which I feel are more responsible then any posts which preferred Revenge over Paradise.

I wasn't reading the forums on the day of the closure, so I only know of the posts which have been quoted on other forums.

Nito's post on it's own would not have caused the forums to close, I am fairly sure of that.

Jinno Angelo's picture

I feel somewhat responsible for the closure, especially with my post and the timing..... But I didnt close it, and closing it wasnt my decision to make....That soley rests on the hands of the Criterion staff and the director of the Criterion forums...
