So our very own Xandu and ZombieTron

were invited to Criterion games to play some Paradise. Like, stuff other than the demo. Congrats to you both. So what was it like? Not just the game (TELL ALL!!!!!), but the atmosphere, the actual building, what's in the building. That kind of stuff.

...in the final game too....

..and they haven't heard that yet.

DJ Atomika gives them a shout out and mentions the website too.

People are always moaning about the DJ. If you look to the internet, apparently everyone hated using the DJ in Burnout 3.

Yes, it did get repetitive, but it would do, it's a fixed script not a real live radio station and you play the game for 50hrs - you play the same cars and the same tracks.

Stryker was a big deal in the USA. His station KROQ in Los Angeles is absolutely huge. I sat with him at the Spike Awards that year.

All the bands performing were making sure they came up to say hello to him.

But I think many people in Europe felt we made him up or something. Matt Webster, our online producer, wrote most of the script.

This time, we used Jools (the female voice from Revenge) at the start and then at the very last minute asked some of the guys we know who worked on SSX3 (one of our favourite games) if we could get in touch with the guy who did the voiceover.

It was a very last minute thing to do, and we did the script late on too, this works well as the game was near final and we could play and write stuff that we wanted to tell players. We wanted to minimise training or intrusive HUD in this game so using a DJ was essential to make the game work - there is so much new stuff in the game the player would never be able to work out what to do.

He says a lot more this time, explains the key stuff to everyone. And hey, if you hate DJ's, then simply TURN THE OPTION OFF IN THE GAME. That's what options are for.

So, all your Burnoutaholics. listen for the shout out.

I really like hearing Jools, she was the best dj ever. The guy on burnout 3, and the guy on paradise have a very annoying voice IMO.
