Last night I decided to host some online races in Burnout Paradise. I set up a 3 round race and set the access to open. Within 10 seconds I had a full room. 7 people were all asking me to start the race. Apparently several of them had been looking for races for a while and they were all tired of doing challenges. I had a couple of people asking me to turn traffic off but I normally ignore this kind of request. The only time I see a point in having traffic off is when trying out new routes. Traffic stayed on all night!
When racing with people I don’t know I try to select races that are not too complicated at first. This means races going pretty much in a straight line like the Webster Av. Drag Race or the race going from the Baseball Stadium to the Lone Stallion Ranch. Any race going along South and North Mountain Drive also works well. I kept the races simple for the first 6 rounds and they were all close. Most of the time only one or two DNF. It was also really fun that people were using different cars. Someone even used the 4x4 and it was causing havoc to my PCPD Racer .
This was the first night when I really had fun doing online races in Burnout Paradise. To me mixing challenges, road rules, today’s best and races does not really work well. If I want to race I want to race… I don’t want to go clubbing at the Country Club or Meet up at the Baseball Stadium or do a triple barrel roll through the Aircraft fuselage in the airfield. Don’t get me wrong; challenges and all the other stuff rocks, but if I’m in a racing mood that is what I want to do. Give me quick races like in Revenge or Takedown and I’m a happy boy.

Paradise Drives
Usually I pick random tracks from the preset Paradise Drives when I host a room. People tend to be able to keep up with those pretty well. If I feel like upping the challenge a bit, I just stick in a couple checkpoints...

Had some goals
I haven't done a whole lot of races yet because I kind of had a plan for how I wanted to attack Paradise. Now that I 've got all that stuff done (getting all my cars and getting my friends acclimated to the game, bugger those last 14 smashes and 3 stunt runs, it'll happen whenever it happens) I'm diving head first into racing now. Challenges are fun everynow and then or to help a friend who doesn't have them but Its all racing from now on for me baby! Look for my room, see you out there!

I have 5 sets of 5 rounders that will test you all,
I'll get a DNF but at least the tracks are good, if you know your roads. Some nice corners, and some good areas for site seeing if you do get lost, lol. And they are curcuits, sort of, due to only 8 finish spots.
But the map edit is a bugger to use, place check point, check the route, zoom in again etc etc, but my Save Nine I think will get some good races if people just flollow the roads and know a check point is a turn or a straight?
As for traffic first timers no traffic, but if you done the game, traffic will be on.
Patience is something I taught myself, so I never know when it's going to run out?
Also I need a map with all the check points on, so i can plan better routes, some corners in the game are just so sweet and i want them in races. A big map too, i need to see the roads properly, so i know where short cuts are, so they can be used and not send people else where?

Dirt racin'
It'd be sweet if we could have a race on the dirt track. With the oval champ it would be like NASCAR!
