Building a new PC – PART 2: The build

Last Friday all parts for my mini ITX pc project had finally arrived and I could start unpacking all the new shiny technology. There is nothing like the smell of fresh circuit boards  ahhhhh… bliss!
Here is a frontal shot of the Silverstone SUGO Series SG07B Case.

Building a new PC – PART 1: Planning

It has been five and a half years since I built my last PC. As my previous computer was getting a bit dated and ZombieTron’s PC kept shutting down due to overheating all the time I figured it was time to get a new one.
Our new PC had to meet the following requirements

Burnoutaholics down-time

Today BurnoutAholics.com has been unavailable for about 6 hours. This is the first time in the 4 years we have been around that we have had any major unplanned downtime. The reason for the problem was that the disk raid on the webserver that hosts Burnoutaholics.com crashed and had to be replaced. Due to this we have lost posts made between 23.06.2010 04:00 and 23.06.2010 13:00. Any new users that registered in this timespan will have to re-register.

Xbox LIVE Community Developer Program (XCDP)

It seems like the Xbox LIVE Community Developer Program (XCDP) is again taking onboard new developers. We have been trying to join this program for over 2 years now and today I sent our third application to join the program. I don't have any big hopes of actually being accepted as it seems like this is a club for the big boys like 360voice and gamertagpics.

Prince of Persia

I finally got my copy of Prince of Persia from play.com today. I bought it because it was cheap, included Prince of Persia Epilogue (which is 800 M$ points) and because I've enjoyed the previous PoP games.

Premium Reversi Platinum Edition

As some of you may know I am a computer programmer by trade and I also enjoy programming in my spare time. Yesterday I discovered this game, a version of Othello, on my hard drive that I made 10 years ago. So just for fun I have upgraded it to work on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. I have also added some new features that were not in the original version.

The game is multiplayer enabled so two people can play against each other over the Internet or on the same computer and the game also has integrated chat support.

Burnout 3 Takedown vs. Peggle

As some of you may have noticed I have been playing a lot of Peggle lately. It is amazing how such a seemingly simple and random game can be so addictive. After reading the latest issue (200) of Edge I understand more about why this game appeals to so many people. Sukhbir Sidhu, Studio Director at PopCap, creator of Peggle reveals what games inspired them when creating Peggle.

For the millionth time...

The last couple of months have been extremely busy for me so I have not really had time to add much content to the site. In the last couple of weeks BurnoutAholics.com has hit a couple of big milestones. First of all we have now had over 1.000.000 page views. This is a huge number and when we started the site I had never thought we would reach this number so quickly.

As some of you may have noticed we now also have 1000 members. Thank you all for signing up!
