There has to be SOMETHING wrong!

But there isn't. It's perfect. At first I was really sceptic about the concept of Burnout Paradise. I love racing games but to move the racing into an open, living, breathing city? Was that the right choice? Hell yes!

For example PGR4 was "ok", but who wants to spend their time struggling to keep their car on a straight road, or drive around cones? Well i wouldn't. Never again now that I can race through a CITY (CITY! Not a track, CITY!) 200 mph, through traffic, while other racers are driving for nothing less than first place and trying to take me down like a pack of hungry wolves!

I know there's a lot of people that do not like the concept of an open world. I admit, you sometimes screw up. So what?! Tell me one game where you keep winning all the time and it still feels like fun. Even if you sometimes miss a turn, there is still balance. You can save a lot of time by taking a high-risk shortcut that you wouldn't try in a safe lead. The opponents also screw up (and it allways brings a smile to my face), and the win might still be up for grabs at the finish line. The best feeling of success comes then, after you have succesfully driven like a mad man doing all the stuff the little 5-year old inside you has allways dreamed of, and you win a race that even you didn't think you could still win. Kinda different than pressing start-retry-start-retry-start-retry.

The open city might sound strange, but let's be honest... You have a compass, a minimap and the game tells you which turn to take (with a sound effect). If you still want to open up the map 3 times in a race TO MAKE SURE where youre going, blame only yourself. The desing of the city is great. If you want to take a shortcut, 99/100 times the shortcut will lead you where you wanted to go. Eventually the map will make it's way into your brain. Until then kick back, relax, have a little faith and a lot of fun.

And the cars... WOAH! I dont even wanna start cause I couldn't stop for propably 12 pages. Just fantastic with great variety.

Now I've had the game for a week and I have about 60 hours of time played. So yes, it's addictive. Maybe I am a Burnoutaholic with a subjective view, but I'm proud of it.

Have fun and keep boosting!

It's all new and takes a bit of getting used to, but I think we all get there in the end.

Nice write up and Welcome to the Site!

using the back button mid race kinda spoils it for me, and I just cant look at the mini map when I am traveling at such insane speed's, the indicator on the car makes me crash everytime I try to see which way it wants me to turn, so I just wing it and pray for the best, I have lost count of the times I have ended up on the wrong side of the City which might explain my amount of mielage I have clocked up, but apart from that I am enjoying the game  all though I cant see me playing it in 6 months time
