I wrote this on the Criterion Forums, Addressed to all (i did not put that but it's a forum, so...), as well as...

...To the Team and Alex Plus High Lighteds etc

I have also put it here, because I was at the Party, so, Loyalty and the 2 T-Shirt have some value as well.  Plus, after some stories, an outside the doghouse view might be good too.

To the Team and Alex Plus High Lighteds etc ...

...and other great contributers.

It was said in one of the Earlyist Pod Casts, That People that Liked Revenge, might not like Paradise, a quotish from Alex Ward.

A sight from the obvious, Open World, new Game Play Modes, New Engine Built from the ground UP, no Loading etc etc, which is new and different, so people may find it hard to get use too.

But To say something like that, must mean it is known what the differences are, compared to the later games in the series.

Could you lay out in Lay Mans Terms, (no still can't spell and seem to have an affliction with Capital Letters at the moment) what those differences are?

There is still a tear (as in, a rip) in  community, it could be small, it could be larger than we think, but ( and yes we know Cagney will enable the Team to change stuff on the fly, as it were), what is the main Problem that the Team are seeing, so it could be fixed, to bring those people back into the fold, of the warm familiar musty dog smell that is Criterion, and Burnout! If it was Flaming, the dog that is, not so musty I would think, maybe a more appropriate Mascot and smell of spent fuel.

Anyway I digress, yes the forums, reflect many Views, a lot important and helping this community, some funny, and some locked and deleted.

Either way, this game is not Marmite, and though some things might not be liked universally, there should be a universal  core formula, that runs through the games, some say , Boosting, Drifting, Insane Crashing, eye bleeding graphics, there is a list somewhere, or if not it's on a 100 post forum, somewhere?

There is also a list of what people want, like, speedo, boost starts, map rotation, lots have contributed, many many things, all good, plus the odd snide/sarcastic remarks.

There is something different about Paradise, and Alex knew what it was and I assume the Team, could we, the Torn Away Part of the Community, be told what it is, so we might understand?

It might help? Darn if it got technical, someone would translate, knowing the community.

To those who find some sort of negativity (i'm not even miffed :D , Capital letters are an affiction, i'm told) from this posted Topic, don't post until you calm down, negative is ok but we are trying to bring back AWESUM, does that work or should I stick with AWESOME?

Anyway People Lets see what happens.

suffur ;)

This was my reply on the Criterion Games Forums:

I don’t see Burnout Paradise as part of the Burnout Series at all. I think it is much easier to understand Burnout Paradise if you think of Burnout 1, 2, 3 and 4 (and Legends and Dominator) as Burnout Generation 1. I see Burnout Paradise as the first game in the new series of games that I choose to call Burnout Generation 2 or Next Gen if you like. Think of it as the transition from Super Mario Bros 3 to Mario 64 or GTA2 to GTA3. There was a huge change in both technology and game play between these games and lots of people didn’t like the direction the games took. I think it is pretty much the same way with Burnout Paradise.

Both of these “next-gen” titles have had very successful sequels. As for Paradise I’m not sure what the future will bring… I have a feeling this will be the first and last Burnout Game in “Burnout Generation 2”.

I think I figured out the main reason for me that Paradise doesn't FEEL like the other Burnout games, and it is the power of the Boost.

When I hit Boost I used to feel a WOOSH! the power would force me back in my seat, and make my cheeks wobble, through my speakers I heard a sonic boom, and my car would launch itself forward like a wild animal pouncing on its prey.

In Paradise Boosting just makes my car go a little bit faster.

I want to FEEL the BOOST with all 6 senses, so I will play Revenge more than I will play Paradise, and I will hope that another game will come out that gives me the same adrenaline rush that Burnout Generation 1 does.
