Burnout 3 Online Schedule - Days and times to meet and race.

Since there needs to be a schedule to get people on Burnout 3 at the same time to race, here it is:

MONDAYS to THURSDAYS - 9pm UK (4pm EST, 10pm EU) & 2am UK (9pm EST, 3am EU)

FRIDAYS - 10pm UK (5pm EST, 11pm EU)

& 3am UK (10pm EST, 4am EU)

SATURDAYS & SUNDAYS - 6pm UK (1pm EST, 7pm EU) & 11pm UK (6pm EST, 12am EU) & 2am UK (9pm EST, 3am EU)

Additional notes:

These times are gathering times. I suggest if you want to play B3 get online and sit in the US Central (top) lobby a couple of minutes before the hour mark but this goes for ANYTIME not just the stated suggestions.

If your room has space for more players just run 2 lap races/road rages so that anyone waiting in the lobby will see your game more quickly.

Post replies here to highlight specific days/times upcoming that you intend to play. Ideally you could post the at least the night before to give others time to see it. If you check this post daily or the copy I put on the Burnout 3 xbox live forum then we should get some good rooms going.

Thanks for giving us Burnout 3 guidance umo!   We needed it! I am not sure how much I will be able to play, but will try to jump on about once a weekish!

As of now the Friends List on Burnout 3 and the status showing to other people on the 360 or the web is fixed and working as normal.

It's started working on a Tuesday again like last time is that a coincidence?

Well it should be easier to get rooms going now so that's great news

As part of my ongoing RPG with EA Support I managed to level up and reach higher tiers until eventually I got the problem sorted out.

Here is the end of game message response explaining things.

Umo: "I really would appreciate if you have any updates as to what the issue was or how it got fixed."

EA Support Final Boss "The issue was corrected when I kept telling the server team that there was something going on and that forced the server team to take a good look at the servers and they found and corrected the issue. Apparantly it was caused because of the last update to the servers. It caused the servers not to transmit the correct information even though our reporting tools saw it as correct and that there was no issue with the server."

So if it happens again, hopefully we can skip straight to this bit and not be in the wilderness for a couple months :)

MS are closing Xbox Live for Xbox Original titles from the 15th of April 2010. I am very sad about this!  Once I am over the shock, I will organise a last hoorah! until then I will be rocking and weeping in a corner!

ZombieTron's picture

Someone posted this link over at the Xbox forums as a way to be able to continue to play Original Xbox games online:

http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/

I don't understand how that works, but will ask Xandu later.

umopapisdnpuaq's picture

No system link on B3 = no dice.

5 years, 7 months and 8 days will be the lifetime of Burnout 3 Online.

I don't know though. We just had 2 months able to still play Burnout 3 even though there was no real connection to the xbox live information/friends list.

I expect EA to do their part too to match this decision. but I could deal with it being like the last month or two if it meant we had it longer.

I suspect Microsoft will properly vapourise it though, leaving no chance of anything hanging around. I'm just not ready to deal with this yet.

Is online supported on the PS2 version?

Get your own TaunTaun!

ZombieTron's picture

Yes, it does seem that the PS2 version is still online playable, see this post dated 23/01/10 HERE

anithu's picture

do u come online on ps2 or xbox?

ZombieTron's picture

But as Xbox Live is closing down for Original Xbox games, I guess after the 15th of April, PS2 will be the only way to play Burnout 3 online.

I personally don't have a PS2 anymore, but might consider picking one up just so I can play Burnout 3 online!!!

MasquedWarrior's picture

Unfortunately, what you said is not true. Sadly, Burnout 3 for Playstation 2 is shutting down, too! http://www.edge-online.com/news/ea-pulls-ps3-360-and-pc-online-servers

I am currently only a Silver member on Xbox live, but I have a voucher. I will be able to play this Thursday, Friday, and/or Saturday at the times listed for those days, but I'd want to get a confirmation from at least three other members of this site by then. (Burnout 3 just isn't that fun with only two people.) If you want to play with me, please respond. (If not enough people respond, I won't even activate the voucher.) My gamertag is MasquedWarrior. Also, I don't have the PS2 version.

umopapisdnpuaq's picture

Hey Masq, these times aren't too solid at the moment. It usually ends up just happening when 3 or more ppl are on the dashboard and decide to play.

Much better with a nearly full room like you say. If you want to be totally sure you could wait until the last night (Wed 14th) You may wind up having multiple rooms open to play in.

I actually plan to play from 7:45 PM GMT-0 through 9:45 PM GMT-0 each day, if possible. So, if you can show up at 9:00 PM as planned in the original post, that's fine; you'll catch the last 45 mins of gameplay.Just make a post in this forum

If you can come any earlier than 7:45, I might be able to play, but please make a post. I plan on refreshing this topic once every fifteen minutes between 7:00 and 8:00 -0 Thursday-Saturday, so regardless of when you plan on playing, give at least thirty minutes notice. If enough people confirm availability at a particular time, I'll post a confirmation. Otherwise, I'll post saying I don't plan to show up at that time.

umopapisdnpuaq's picture

Edit: So since the clocks changed for Summertime technically real GMT time is an hour later than everyone uses and the site still displays that. Just pretend GMT = US East (NYC) time + 5 hours. Right now it's 8:05pm but 7:05 GMT.

Okay it's 7:45 now, so I can pop on Burnout. We may pick up a few random people too once it starts. Yesterday morning I found someone in the Japan lobby waiting for a race. They had all the cars and tracks unlocked too, so i'm glad they got the chance to race. A true Burnout fanatic.

BTW umopapisdnpuaq, are you Takedown Denied? That user just sent me a friend request, and I accepted.

Either way, thank you for RSVP'ing. But if no one else confirms in the next two hours, I won't activate my voucher, just yet (I'm still silver [edit], BTW.) I hope you're refreshing this thread [edit] repeatedly. I hope I was being clear enough, and didn't inadvertently give you the run-around.

EDIT: Just found out Takedown Denied is NOT umopapisdnpuaq, but I apparently misled that person into thinking I'd activate my voucher, and show up, just now. (I at least explained the situation to that user.) So that you don't waste your time waiting for someone to show up in the Burnout 3 lobby while twiddling your thumbs, wait for me to confirm in this thread, or through XBL, before putting in Burnout 3.

Also, Takedown Denied is playing Burnout 3, right now. So if you have Gold and are viewing this page within a few minutes of my making it, you might want to put in Burnout 3, since he might still be there!

umopapisdnpuaq's picture

If you haven't used up all your free 1 month gold trials on your 360 (you get 3 per console) you could use one of those. That is what I did for Takedown Denied, it runs out on 18th Apr. If not are you just talking about the 48hr vouchers you get with some games? Can you add those to existing subs now? I thought originally they were only for making new accounts.

Either way, i'd advocate hanging around in the B3 lobby and listen out for the helpful ringing noises as someone enters. I'm going to have to make that noise into a ringtone and the msg alert ring too :)

Still deciding whether or not I'll activate the voucher/create a new account any time soon.

MasquedWarrior's picture

I just activated a Gold voucher.

Also, I plan on playing tomorrow, and the day after, starting at 4:00 PM GMT-5. (USA Eastern. I'll use the same perspective of time as suggested above, in spite of daylight savings time.) IOW, 2 hours, 45 minutes before this post was updated being 4:00 PM today.

ZombieTron's picture

I will try to join in today too, as I don't think I have too much else to do this evening. Hopefully we can get a full room going for a while.

I might be able to play a bit tomorrow too, but Sunday and Monday are out for me.

Tuesday is my Birthday and it would be nice to have a BurnoutAholics party on BO3, although we might be going out for dinner and I could be too tired to play.. we will see.

Then Wednesday is the last day huh? I have a Norwegian language class on Wednesday evening, but as long as I am not too flaked after that I could probably get a few last races in.

I am assuming that the shut down on the 15th means there will be no access on the 15th? But, if the 15th is the last open day I should have a bit more time in the evening to race.

I am still saddened that there will be no more BO3 online. The best times on Xbox Live for me were on BO3!

MasquedWarrior's picture

I also plan on starting at 3:00 PM GMT-5 and stopping at 4:30 next Monday through Thursday. ( http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/time-zone/usa/new-york/new-york-city/in... ) Also, I'm coming today and tomorrow regardless of whether or not anyone posts a confirmation.

MasquedWarrior's picture

I'll have to delay the Monday meeting by a little bit. I probably won't be able to make it until 3:30 or so. If anybody else wants to start a game before I arrive, do so, and make a post to be courteous.

MasquedWarrior's picture

Unfortunately, I'll have to delay tomorrow's game of Burnout 3 until at least 4:30 PM GMT-5, or possibly cancel it entirely. Today at work I found out I have a mandatory meeting tomorrow. It's too bad my current job requires so much flexibility. At least it'll give me motivation to get a better job, even if that is easier said than done, with the state of the economy. Refresh this thread periodically, and/or check your Xbox LIVE inbox, for further updates.

UPDATE: Also, I'm busy after 2:30 PM on Wednesday. I'll have to reschedule it to 1:00 PM GMT-5.

MasquedWarrior's picture

I won't make it to today's Burnout 3 game. If you want to, show up, and see if anyone else comes.

ZombieTron's picture

I will be playing for a bit today, although I don't know what times or anything... not now, later  See you there if you can make it!

umopapisdnpuaq's picture

There is a countdown timer now on Major Nelson's blog.

Counting down to the end on midnight at the end of Wednesday, Pacific Time USA.

= 3 am New York, 8 am UK and 9 am Norway

So sad, just one and a half days now. At least we know not to expect anything on Thursday.

I just tried  it online and i can't go onto xbox live.
Microsoft made an error and because of that live is still online. (halo 2 can still be played right now). So i guess EA shut off the servers at the planned time, while microsoft didn't. Otherwise there would've been some more time to play.

-

umopapisdnpuaq's picture

Yes, EA put the final nail in. In a way I've gotten so used to seeing "The game cannot be played online at this time" message over the years it still feels like it's not permanent yet.

I want to thank Masqued and Zombie for encouraging people to get on and have some final rounds of fun, as well as everyone else who made Burnout 3 what it is, was and forever will be.

Here is the exact moment after the final event, a Road Rage on Island Paradise. Zombietron herself saw the FINISH  and one lucky/unlucky user played their first and last online event.

It was at 9:22 am gmt right? I was making a math test around that time, and because of that i couldn't play the evening before.
Was that new person just a new account or really someoene who had never played it before?

-

umopapisdnpuaq's picture

Yeah it was 10:22 UK Summer time. I'm pretty sure from what they said they had just come online for the first time and didn't know about the imminent closure. They have a virtually new gamertag and probably only recently got a 360. I just hope they didn't spend the points to download Burnout to play it  online.

It was good to get a regular session going in the last few days and I have most of them recorded so look out for your name in a future vid too :)

Was that really the last event? Did I really win the last event ever??? How cool is that!

Thank you so much umo and masqued and everyone else who joined us, it was really nice to see Burnout 3 re-activated for the last few days!

Thanks for all the wonderful memories and great friends! Burnout 3, you were very good to me, and I will miss you!

ZombieTron mentioned the possibility (or lack thereof,) of tunneling this game, in order to play it online after the shutdown. Because Burnout 3 has no LAN mode, (system link,) it can't be tunneled, as she noted.

However, something I had brought up a few times during a few games of Burnout 3 during its final few days, the PSP Burnout games both feature LAN play, and XLink Kai supports the PSP. Unfortunately, only certain specific hardware configurations support it: http://teamxlink.co.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=evo7:psp I do not own a PSP, but I have used Xlink Kai with a Playstation 2 and a Gamecube. I am interested in trying to play the PSP Burnout games online using Xlink Kai in the future.
