Burnout World - details revealed

For some time now, we have heard rumours about a new Burnout game. We have just gotten some very exciting information from one of our good friends in the industry. She was very excited to reveal the working title of the next Burnout game and some details about the game!

According to our source, the working title is Burnout World and it is being developed by Criterion Games. The game will feature most of the tracks from Burnout, Burnout 2: Point of Impact, Burnout 3: Takedown and Burnout Revenge. The tracks will all be stitched together in a clever way, meaning that they can all be seamlessly explored and raced. Potentially this could mean that we will be able to race Downtown and Sunshine keys in the same race! The tracks will all get a facelift and all the textures have been recreated in full HD glory! This is going to be a true arcade racer going back to its roots in Burnout 3: Takedown and Burnout Revenge. A selection of the most popular cars from all the games will be included and we are sure more will be available as DLC. Let us hope the Revenge Racer and Euro Circuit Racer makes it into the initial release!

We have not gotten much information about the crash mode but we expect that most of the original junctions will be included and maybe some new ones that were dropped in the original games.

Our source has also revealed that the game will have spectator mode for up to eight additional players and the ability to record and edit up to 15 minutes of video with support for all major online video-sharing networks (we except this to be YouTube and Vimeo).

The game will have online play for up to eight players. All the original game-modes will be included. We are also hoping for a couple of new ones, like eliminator where the eliminated players can stay in the game and mess it up for the players still in the race.
The game will be available on all major platforms; Xbox, PlayStation, Wii, Pc (Origin). Release date is currently set to winter 2014. This might mean that Burnout World will be a launch title for PS4 and Xbox 720.
