I dont think it is Essential to have a speedometer on Burnout as it is not like other racing games where you have to slow down to a certain speed on corners, but it is fun to know what speed you are travelling at, how fast you can take a corner, or how much you loose on a certain bend because you touched a wall
Its a driving game, important things needed to drive: a car, wheels, brakes, accelerator, mirrors to see whos sneaking up behind you(back button is fine), a decent place to sit, a control device to make the car turn, may be some indicators, to warn drivers where your going, and a speedometer to know how fast your going for insurance purposes.
Patience is something I taught myself, so I never know when its going to run out?

The correct phrasing to this question should be, "How important is a speedometer to the HUD of a racing game?" Then the proper answer would be some degree of importance.

This is the truth that I am revealing before you! Behold; those who hear me now, have got ears to hear from!
Where else would a Speedo be other than on the HUD? and the question is about how important it is in Burnout not any racing game as the speedo is essential for sims which are trying to recreate real life racing.
but i dont think i can given the options available.. basically having never played a racing/crashing game without having a speedo its impossible for me to choose any of them..
it all depends whether the sense of speed is truely there in the game.. if you can tell your going warp speed then you probably dont need the speedo.. but i find its the full effect of the scenary and the speedo that give the feel of going breakneck speeds..
hopefully paradise will show that speed is a state of mind not a figure on the screen.. only time will tell...
theres a thin line between genius and insanity... i think i've fallen off...

And they say the game is now more realistic, so realism, needs a speedo, and they can't seem to make up their minds about 1000, or 2000 challenges, in the game, and someone said a release date of January 8th but i think that was in the comments? Waiting is not the problem, as developers need all the time it takes to get a great game out there, but it seems the journalism of the two sites needs to compare some notes. But they both seemed to like how the game is going, which is nice.

Sozz for going off topic, but would it not also to be realistic to have a Horn, so as you were to say take someone out you could scare them with a blast first, If memory serves me correct (probably not) did Burnout 3 have a very faint horn, you had to really listen to hear it, or am I thinking of another game again
Yeah, I think the earlier Burnout's did have a horn - Beep Beep! They definatly had indicators which I thought was really cool! although I didn't see them much as I race using the in car view.
Im quite pissed that i missed this poll as i really would have loved to vote......but alas i cant.......but this was one of the main factors of me disliking this game.........you needed the speedometer its a car isnt it?....and whether you choose to use it or not it still should be made visible.........is of an essence the same as a speedometer is.....
I'm looking for the spaceman who stole my smile....he cant be far away....hopefully....
What are you all talking about? The Cagney3 update will include a speedometer for Paradise and it will be availbel in the marketplace for a whopping 1000 points.

Highly Important Req
The obvious for me is the decent place to sit, apart from that has to be good Music! My own of course, i never did get the tunes they put in the game.
Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.
