As you all know, Paradise City suffers from a communication problem.
We have reported this on the forums over at Criterion Games.com in the hope of getting a quick fix to a bug which is stopping Paradise from being a great online game.
The fact that I can not always hear the other people I am playing Paradise with, has dampened my enthusiasm for playing online. Which in turn means, as I have completed the offline game, I have not played it much at all lately.
On Friday I put Paradise on, in a room hopping experiment to see how widespread the communication problem is.
I joined a lot of different rooms, most of which I left again straight away. Each room I joined I said "Hey, how is everyone?" as soon as I entered the room, most of the rooms I saw speech bubbles talking but, I could not hear anybody. In some of them I had no speech bubble and I could not hear anybody and in a few I was able to communicate. Unfortunately a couple of the rooms I could hear were French or German, so I was still unable to communicate!!
After room hopping a bit, one of the rooms I had been able to talk to sent me an invite, so I went back to join them to get some 4 player challenges done, then I joined a race room for 5 gruelling rounds... which was a lot of fun, even though I wigged out and parked up in one of the races due to the shocking amount of crashes I had and wrong turns I took.
When I was done experimenting I joined Xandu, Suffur and Kevlar0 for a mix of challenges and races, and luckily we were all able to hear each other.
But, the problem is definitely not fixed! How do you cope with not hearing the people you are playing with? Has it prevented you from playing online? Or have you been lucky enough not to have experienced this problem? Let me know, and I hope to hear you in Paradise City soon!!

Not the end of the world
Everyone has this problem. Played Paradise online every day for around two months and without fail as soon as room hits 4 people plus - bang and the sound is gone.
For me, as much as I prefer being able to talk to and hear everyone it doesn't affect the gameplay too much so it was never a major problem. Also not being able to hear some singing 13 year old is a big bonus. However when you've got someone unable to complete a challenge and also unable to hear you trying to help - not great. I'm pretty sure the comm problems are responsible for some of the jumping out of rooms mid-challenge.
I do hope they get this bug fixed soon - would be great if it was sorted in time for (if not included in) Cagney.
