I haven't been to the cinema this much in ages!!
So far this Summer we have seen pretty much all of the big blockbusters (except Mamma Mia and Sex and the City) So, I thought I would give a mini rundown and super quick mini review (as its my lunch break). WARNING MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!
Iron Man -
Awesome movie and Robert Downey Jr was PERFECT! Loved every minute and the Avengers teaser was the icing on the cake!
The Incredible Hulk -
I was a bit worried about Ed Norton as the Hulk, but he was brill! and they even tipped a hat to the 70's tv show. They had a cameo from Lou Ferrigno as well as the obligatory Stan Lee cameo. And another Avengers teaser too!!! Can't wait for that movie!!!
Wanted -
We saw the trailer to this when we went to see Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk and it looked like a super cool movie. It didn't dissapoint (can't believe I forgot about it) Coolness in many ways, especially the clever use of a computer keyboard!
The Forbidden Kingdon -
Movie history is made! Seeing Jackie Chan and Jet Li fight it out in the temple was fantastic! If (like me) you used to watch Monkey Magic you should love this movie! Loads of martial art legends in the opening credits, how many can you name? Beautiful movie, I loved it!
Hancock -
OK I didn't love this one so much, it was OK, entertaining enough and did have me giggling a few times. I also really enjoyed Jason Bateman's performance. Good fun, but thats about it.
HellBoy II: The Golden Army -
I didn't know Luke Goss was in this until the credits rolled! doh! He was brilliant! I used to like Bros, I'm able to admit it! He's a much better actor than he was a musician!! Cool movie, cool monsters, scary bits and funny bits, everything you want from a HellBoy movie! and I am really glad I closed my eyes and covered my ears when the trailer was on, I hate that they show too much in the trailers!
Batman: The Dark Knight -
I think I hyped this in my head too much to give it 5 stars. I really liked it but there were a few bits I found hard to follow, especially some of the action sequences. And there just wasn't enough Batman in it for me. I love Christian Bale, but he just isn't in this movie that much?! Heath Ledger was as good as everybody says, Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine were all great too, but something was missing for me... maybe the Bat Cave?? or maybe I just had a tinge of sadness over Heath Ledger's untimely death or maybe too many people were talking through the movie, and I hate that! I think I might have to rewatch this one... I will be getting it on DVD anyway to add to my Christian Bale collection!
I feel like I have missed one.. so I might come back and edit this later.
Edit - Thanks Xandu I have now added Wanted!
I love summer movies! especially ones with spandex wearing super heroes!
Roll on Summer '09!!

Summer of (cinematic) Love
Agreed...this has been amazing summer at the cinema, especially for geeks like me.
Iron Man and Incredible Hulk were both tremendous, Hancock got lost on it's way to being an even passable movie (although full marks for the cast - Jason Bateman is quality and Charlize Theron....I'll shut up on her as I'm about to sound like a perv...), X-Files 2 was good but not great but the highlight was The Dark Knight. Did myself a favour and avoided as much as I could of the jumping-the-gun 'best movie ever' hype and waited to see it myself and boy am I glad I did. Loved every minute, even those with Maggie Gyllenhaal. Sure she's pretty, but can she act?
The only real let-down of the summer has been Indy 4. A good movie ruined by one character and in particular one moment where I sat there and said 'I'm not buying it' Mutt - Lord of the Apes. Absolute bollocks.
Going to see Hellboy 2 next weekend and can't wait and there's still more great movies to come this summer - Step Brothers, Tropic Thunder, Pineapple Express, Wall-E...good times for cinemaphiles!

You forgot one
You forgot to mention Wanted starring Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman. I'm going to leave it up to you to give it a star rating

Forbidden Kingdom 5 stars?
I thought that movie was only a 4. Here's my argument: Its got Jet Li and Jackie Chan in it. look at previous movies that they have made, Drunken master the original one from 1980s and Hero. There was actually a good plot and story to it. the drama in hero was great and I felt that I could just watch it over and over again. This movie I think they fell a little bit short. I could watch it, but it doesnt hold the same amount of storytelling as in Hero. The movie had two superstar legends, it could have been done waayyy better..
Don't wake me cause I'm dreaming, of Angels on the moon. Iam Nero Angelo!
