This is an urge to everybody to read the labels and know what you are putting in your body.
Aspartame is an artificial sweetener used in fizzy drinks, squash/cordials, juice drinks, hot chocolate, sugar-free gum etc. It is not only in Diet products but full fat drinks contain Aspartame too.
In the UK, the labels have to say "Contains a source of Phenylalanine" and on the ingredients list, it will be listed as Aspartame or E951.
I have made a choice stop consuming products that contain Aspartame. I made this choice after my Mum rang me in tears due to her best friend being diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, and my Mum being worried about me as I drink a lot of diet cola.
My Mum's best friend was a diet coke addict for years, other then that she has a very healthy lifestyle. Her sugar intake is low. She exercises regularly, even running in a few half marathons, and the London marathon. She doesn't smoke, doesn't eat alot of red meat or fatty foods, doesn't drink alcohol much. She is what you would expect to be at low risk of getting any kind of cancer. But... she did drink a lot of diet coke.
Doing some internet research on Aspartame shows that in laboratory tests Aspartame causes cancer in rats at levels currently approved for human consumption.
Aspartame is also shown to affect fetal neurological development and can lead to miscarraige and birth defects.
Would you drink Formaldehyde? Aspartame breaks down to formaldehyde in the body.
There is a natural alternative sweetener used in the far east, this is called Stevia. This is a completely natural low calorie sweetener, with no known negative effects.
The FDA and EU have banned Stevia from being used in products in the US and Europe. In fact the import of Stevia is banned from the EU.
How can a natural product with no known negative affects be banned, when a synthetic chemical with many known negative affects and carcenogenic properties is included in thousands of products, with no health warnings?
Coca-Cola is even taking steps to launch a Stevia based drink, even tho Stevia is yet to be approved by the FDA. Why would they do this if Aspartame is safe?
Sainsbury's, M&S and Asda have removed Aspartame from their own label products. Why would they do this if it is safe?
Please read the labels before you purchase, and try to avoid Aspartame. It is not safe for you or your children, and it is in pretty much everything you and your children drink! Please be aware!!
Thank you for reading this. If we all change the way we shop, we can get this poison removed from the supermarket shelves.

Cancer
Yeah my dad is a cancer research scientist and they have done the test with rats although on a human you will need to have a considerable amount for it to actually take effect in some cases it has also known to stunt growth

What you don't know can hurt you...
I found another article which I found interesting:
Aspartame: What you don't know can hurt you
In this article it talks about heating aspartame being really bad... and aspartame is in Boots own label hot lemon cold and flu lemsip type drink!!! not sure if it's in Lemsip too. It is also in low calorie hot chocolate drinks, and possibly in full calorie ones too. It's everywhere!!!
