From the guys who did Pure...
Their next secret project, http://kotaku.com/5152959/video-shows-pure-devs-working-on-new-title, so a Burnout contender or just a new racing game for us to test, looks interesting, and still looks arcadey enough to get my interest. Any one at Black Rock want me to try it out?

It's called ...
Fuel!? Or maybe not, not sure, Codemasters got it's name to that, not Black Rock, plus Asobo studios is in on it with the youtube video, then again with the money being up the spout so many gaming houses are going down and changing postions and stuff, but Fuel looks pretty good, I wonder how it will handle?Xandu will feed us the information soon. And sorry if I jumped the gun...

FUEL
I had a huge review/preview of FUEL almost done... but cant be bothered to finish it at the moment. There are some videos on the CodeMasters website and lots of screen shots. The game will be the ulitmate open world (40000 sq km!) racing game provided that they get it right. Hopefully they will not release the game until it is done. Releasing betas as retail games can be a disaster.

Split/Second Release Date. And the Paradise Cup S1.
This will be Feb 2010 (10th 0r 12th), which is next year, for some people or the end of the World for others, though 2012 seems the noted final date so at least 3 years of game playing to come. Yeah!
Anyhew...
http://uk.gamespot.com/xbox360/driving/untitledblackrockprojectworkingtitle/video/6206699/gdc-2009-split-second-interview, from this link there are two trailers, that most have now seen and two interviews, one shot in March, with Mitch Powers, the other from yesterday I think, with Nick Banes, both talk about the game, talking about Power Plays, which are earned for driving well/cool/(whatever way but surviving, via drifting, drafting etc, similar to Burnout style of racing/driving), they trigger events in the Movie City Race World, the more you earn the bigger the Power Plays are, from exploding a bus across the track to downed airplanes and helicopters, to larger events which destroy the local area to open up a shortcut. And don't the makers have odd names, I thought it was only actors or characters in movies that had names like that, not game makers, lol. And what is it with the shaved head look these days, am I out of fashion again or is there a case of head lice somewhere?
There seems to be different tracks, like Airport, Downtown, thought those are the two I can work out so far, but I assume many more, there is also an online mode/multiplayer, but no details as yet!?
All the cars are created by the studio, so no manufactures(sp) to worry about, and since it has a Hollywood sort of twist, with the Greatest Race on Earth Theme, I assume the tracks will have some representaion to the real world, while being fake enough to blow the tihs out of it.
So check out the Link to links from above and see what you can desypher(sp) about what some of us are looking forward too, and is not Fuel out this month too? Xandu write that blog now, maybe... sometime soon?
On a different note since i'm writing for once, the sun is blue after all, The Paradise Cup Season 1. Or Fog in a Tea Cup, for those of whom that like titles.
And I was winning the Paradise Cup (S1), saddly now I'm not (though 4 more weeks to go, so maybe a chance to redeem), but Kev thinks that someone is fiddling the numbers from the scores, but then again, i'm a guest to this sort of thing, and just wanted to see what is was like to race in Paradise, and it's not easy? or is it?
Though it was at first and to note that I have raced in 3 different locations with 3 types of telly (one in SD black bar wide screen, noooooo, but had one of my best races at that time that only had two eye witnesses, but I did look good, real good), 3 types of connection, 3 types of live audience{excluding the racers}- (that take the ssip too, lol, and hate Paradise, but love me, though not too much because I play the game, yes people it's just a game honest, lol) and 3 sound systems (or lack of), and moving my TV from near to far, with and without sound (been moving my room round, week 8 now), been raped off the start line (a few times) and next to the finish, (thank you Kev), been spawned off the route choosen by Criterion, due to some sort of spawn glitch/issue, been told I'm a noob, lol, killed on that lamp post out side the BaseBall Park (why is this still not fixed?) and told about stuff that has been on this site since day one, or way before that person or this person thought of it, to tell me something i don't know again, but then again some people have never heard of me before this event was set up, so my ego was, ergo, not stroked, plus i hate racing in Paradise, read my blogs for more infromation on my views about that (but a brief recap is happening in this post) but have been writing here for more than 2 years, and Happy Birthday once again Burnoutaholics, see even under the enfluence/influence, with out the pork, being tihs faced'ish at a 2 year bash I still raced, and had that awesome race! And came second that day or was it third, I was at a party how can I remember all the details?
Plus I still have 3 events to do in game, which to make sure people know, I'm not doing them till the Island is out to see if the game, gives me an error, like my other tag with the 1.7 update and reset my game to Zero! Hence why my car is not Gold or Platinum! And still have some bike challenges to do, and when will that pack be fixed for racing and time keeping/saving? Will we get cars and bikes together?
Yes, a little rant to my excuse for not being number one at the moment, lol! But I think every racer has felt this way in this Cup!
You can know any route, the best car for that boost limit (and yes everone is picking different cars for each race and boost class, though the faster or at the top of the list it is, is being used more often than not), the quickest way(short cuts, alternate routes) and knowing the traffic patterns, but due to lag, no mater how little, it makes someone teleport, poor TD physics, (I was no-where near you honest dude, meaning I was in another time zone on the map, so how did that happen?), and that more people in the room (which then makes the traffic jump to a whole new tune, sometimes literaly(sp)) can really be frustrating, and causes all sorts of excuses to spew from ones mouth, (Like mine above, lol).
And VoIP is still an issuse after this long! And some have fog, some don't, what is it with that, thats not an equaliser thats just taking the ssip, and why are there equalisers in a racing game, the rubber band effect was enough thanks! I like the fog by the way, but equal playing field would be nice?
But I have found the experience enjoyable and hope the next 4 weeks will be too, lol, but I think that Paradise was not designed to be raced in, it's too small, most races on the other games were longer, like 'Around Paradise' long (under 5 minutes), and that is Paradise's longest track/sorry route! And that could be an issue, the other games through use of repeatition(sp), meant you could learn to get into a groove, that does not seem to happen for racing in Paradise, the tracks/routes are just too short and too varied due to traffic patterns, TD physics and lag.
True, you can create your own (without traffic, why? traffic means your driving not taking a Sunday drive in a carless world, though the gaps between traffic is still too small unless you're in a Toy car), but due to poor check point creation/creator you can't just place a point anywhere to get a good race flowing (that still flashes irritatingly to make you crash), and again with only 8 finishes you can't even do a decent circuit race in the middle of the map, though i do try, but throw in a curcuit race and multi check points and most people quit, due to how much hard work it is to concentrate to memorize a map, that you have seen for less than a minute, the GPS still sux, and have learned to ignor it from day 3 of release. Lapped racing would make for a better racer/driver in any enviorment, just so you can see another person on the route, lapping them or not. (oh parc found the smiles, not enough in Paradise though)
I would love to win a race by taking everyone down at the start, i just wish i earned it! That is what is wrong with it in Paradise! In BO3, a takedown was earned and a gangrape on the start was accepted, in Revenge the physics were also poor, but you had to race better to make it look good instead of cheap, in Paradise it just happens without doing a thing, and when you do try, the other person will get the TD on you, even when you verticle them from any hieght or I will get a notice saying I TD myself "SUFFUR takes down SUFFUR", though i normally see "Kevlar0 takes down Kevlar0" alot more, lol.
I wish, when it started I had blogged some races as they were fun, with strange events happening, and even the training sessions that I have joined have been great, and we have had some close finishes and areas of the map where we are all together like a real Burnout race of old, but since I have gone off the writing process you missed out, so maybe join the next cup, The Paradise Cup Season 2, and have ago.
Anyhew, have met some new racers/players*, some that are new to the game (like joined when Ultimate came out), and some that have played it, well tried to, like me, from the day of release, and all of them have spent the money to get the DLC or GCC, in the hope that Criterion does more for the game, from bug fixes and even more content that has more gameplay than collecting a fart in a jar and lighting it. Like...
Cops and Wobbers, which lacks varied points to run to or pick up points, and no boost, just so the poor TD's physics is not noticed so much. Creation of which is genius but lacks variety, boost (incase you missed it the first time), and some point a cut off switch as one pick up gold session lasted 20 minutes with a guy, me, just driving about wondering where everyone was, being safe taking alternate routes to get to base. Which must have been very boring for everyone, sorry for that.
But Paradise has come along way from 1.2, and for a driving game it is something to do, to earn more than the 1000 gamer score you only just got for Revenge, though less since ya never bothered with the single player, you can earn an additional 1140 if you finish Paradise. More to come if the Dog House can think beyond the trophy section of their Play Station 3's Homes!LOL!
A small note: Like some things appear closer in that side mirror type of thing, all the things I have complained about, effect most of the racers, so there is an even playing field if you think half full, unless you have a crap connection or are the host, where you may get host advantage, I had that for Uno once!
Anyway enough from me ranting, raving and learning to edit.
*And alot even own thier own web sites or are writing/controbuting (is there an 'i' in there somewhere) for other web sites, which we have links to, on our links button to the left near the top of this page, yes go look, Paradise is well way more talked about (ouch the slang whip lash) than any other game in the series, due to media internets advancements and youth egos, lol.
But I would like to thank them, so far, for me being allowed to race (and continue to do so) in this cup without being apart of their sites, as it were, so this is your undercover, undereducated, undertheinfluence, underyourmom, underyourcarpullingthebrakelines, underhanded, overtheshoulderboulderholder, thenbangitaginstmyhead, report for Burnoutaholics, on the Paradise Cup Season 1 but only halfway through, so far, I think, but you had to be there...really you did...I could be lieing to you...but I'm honset so I'm not really and I did not like the latest Fast and the Furryless of Vin, sorry good work but not a keeper, find me and bite me, I don't care it was poor, thought that opening shot of that mystery road was nice, nice looking texture etc, but film/movie poor. Cave Driving, oooooooooooooooooh, the plot thins /2 since they showed it twice! Initial D Drift Racer was way better and that has subtitles and had underage prostitutes and Tofu! And creative lighting, obvious but creative!
See 4 hours later and people ask me what I have done with my day, learning to fracking write, some of you should trying it sometime, its easy as it looks really, not!
Since the mad drongo el'eats have not written about Revenge in a while I assume there is some slowdown on that game, and BO3 is becoming history, we need to Skype up for that game and have a weekender of fun and decent TD's sometime soon.

Split/Second vids! :)
Ooooo it's looking pretty cool!
The way they have done the HUD, right behind the car, is kinda cool, it definitely keeps the screen nice and clean, although I couldn't take my eyes off the back of the car for a while there.... the back of the car seems to slide about a lot too.. not sure I like that too much.
The way they showed the HUD tho, concerns me slightly as it is right behind the car, does that mean there wont be an in-car bumper cam view option??? and if there is a bumper cam view, how will the HUD look???
Couple of other interesting things to note from the E3 vid, there will be 2 player split screen, and I really like the whole concept of changing the routes through the power plays.
They still have quite a bit of work to do on the damage physics by the looks of things. There were some view questions in the gamespot vid, the last one being about customization.. I don't get why some people are really keen on customization in racing games. Sounds like it's not going to be a big part of the game, which is very cool with me.
Definitely more interested in Split/Second after seeing these vids! I can't wait!!

Need!
But looking forward to this game, looks good and will only look better on release, not sure about the handling till I have a go, but wanna play it now sounds like a plan I must follow through... {Jez send me an email, hint hint.}
Yeah, the hud for bumper cam must exsist, as I have got use to that view for racing now, and these days car racers have at least 3 options, outside, bumper, and cockpit views. But maybe they are treating it as a third person type of game?
Its got to have full race replay to show off the candy, though not sure if they can do that in multiplayer but it could happen.
These guys have got a lot of ideas that I see another game already in the making, lol, and they seem to push the arcade racer genre futher into gaming fun, but still have got it's hardcore element for people that want to push the limits of thier game. Which means a new franchise to play with, which all good for us, me thinks?
