X-Changes

Today the new Xbox dashboard update hit and along with the updated Xbox.com, Xbox is fully Kinectified!

I used to be the first to admit that I don't cope with change well, but I was thinking about this today... after days of being frustrated with Xbox.com and weeks of being annoyed about the update as I have been in the preview program... and I have concluded that it's not change that I don't like, but change for changes sake!

Change if it is for the better is a wonderful thing! My life has changed so much in the last few years and none of those changes wound me up as much as the changes to Xbox have!

A lot of the changes don't affect me directly, I wont be getting ESPN obviously due to regions and lack of interest anyway. I also wont be getting Kinect (at least until Xbox sell it to me better than they are doing now.). But, the way the dashboard looks, a few of the dash features and all of the Xbox.com changes do affect me... and I have to ask myself "What was the point of all the changes?"

I don't have a problem with them changing the colour scheme or style, although I wish it wasn't so bright white and childish in places. What I do have a problem with is the reduction in functionality and ease of use.

I know the website is still being worked on... but I am not convinced it will ever be as good as it was.

I would love to be a fly on the wall in Redmond to see why Xbox make some of the decisions they make? I'm sure they have the resources to make a working web page... so why are there so many broken links still?? Not to mention the errors we get since the dashboard update when we go to change our avatars clothes... and that is after a long beta!

OK. That probably ended up more ranty then I intended.... To sum up; Change for the better = Good! Change for changes sake = Bad. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
