I aim to complete a 6 lap race on Motor City without crashing. I know I've done 3 lappers without crashing on the Motor City tracks, especially MCSF.... though MCSR is a tough one with that evil cross traffic. I don't normally do 6 lap races.
My question to you all is this: Did this Burnoutaholics achievement come to you as something you had done in the normal course of racing (previous to coming to the site)?, or did you only mindfully come around to attempting it for Burnoutaholics.com?
I don't know why, but personally, achievements motivate me

Might have to edit mine
I took the meaning of the achievement literally as 'avoiding cross traffic'. I was thinking of all the many different ways to make my car go boom. It could be anything like just not hitting cross traffic, not crashing into any car be it oncoming OR cross traffic, and then just not effing up at all for the entire race. I wasn't sure exactly what the creators meant by it so I went with the literal meaning. I might have to hand that achievement back. Xan, Zombie? Can we get a ruling?

No worries, lol
I wouldn't fret over it, they specifically said "no cross traffic" so I would expect that to be the literal definition of the achievement. Normally when I crash on Motor City it's because of cross traffic, which is why I'm just gonna try not to crash at all lol.
Don't worry about it, and don't give it back, Eezo!
OH and answer my question! Did you run Motor City without hitting cross traffic prior to knowing about the achievement, or after?

Don't you know?
The Burnoutaholics site offers various achievements here on the site....over to the left of the page, you can see under Burnoutaholics, "Achievements," which gives a list of possible achievements. Then update your profile under the Burnoutaholics Achievements section to include the ones you've earned, Hyper!

Good luck with that perfect race man. Every time I go for something like that It goes something like this... "Sweet! 5 laps down no crashes, I'm gonna make it Im gonna make it, holy crap I think I can do this! Ah cool theres the finish line, I can do this, I'm gonna get it. BAM! wtf was that? Did I just hit a bird? Are you serious? when did they put birds in Burnout? Are you kidding me?"

Crashing when you think you will make it
LOL.. I know what you mean. This happens all the time to me when I'm going for good lap times. Had a flying lap on White Mountain forward... I'm thinging "SWEET.. this is going to be brilliant" as im flying across the bridge before the finish line... what do i do? Crash into incoming.. 1:48 with crash.. Then on Eastern Bay Long forward (or was it reverse?)... again flying... pretty much never going below 235.. following and catching up some really fast racer (he got 1:43:??...) Again I'm thinking "SWEET..." BOOOM.. crash into oncoming just before the finish line... Zombie was watching and she thought it was funny... Anyway that would probably have been a top 10 time on that lap. SO yeah! I know what you mean.

Oh I'm sorry
Without hitting cross traffic I had done that before coming to the site. I remember being really stoked for finally getting 6 laps without those freakin cross traffic cars getting the best of me (Jim, bob, frank, and steve - I named them)

Sad but true...
I did this achievement way before it was available, got a good time too(not awesome), to match. And did do it regularyly (is this a word, now i will use Word, got it now, for spell check), as Evil Kon Karne, does this as a regular set up in his rooms. Not that i could do it on a daily basis, but being first helps, for this one, or last as the other racers have killed most of the traffic, plus being last gives the pity boost for better times lol.
Thats a feature that should be done, by someone in the top 10, have we got any on the site? They should write about their protected rank, and what it is like to have times in the less than top 100 or even the top 10. Things like, did they use the glitch in White mountain or Angel Vally, did they get the times while in first, or use pity boost etc. Were the races so close that the rubber band effect never had a time to stretch, did you set up a six lap race, take each other down till the boost bars were full, then really race, without crashing? I would like to know as i've not taken it to the point of obsession, but some Burners have, i would like to hear your storys. The frustration of getting the best times in the world, then some b*stard, sorry friend, has taken you down on that last turn, i know Ivor (The God Father of the Boost Jump Technique, though i do know it was a room, joint effort, BlueMax etc help developed it as well as others) has some great times as well as Frozen Vapor and Sega, plus others. What is it like to be great on the game, and still try to kick ones own butt, and get even better?
Patience is something I taught myself, so I never know when its going to run out?

Laptimes
I didn't use any glitches for any of my online laptimes. Most of my laps were earned with at least some pity boost, although not intentionally... it's just when you race like crap and fall behind, you have a chance to go for a lap. No taking each other down or anything like that, pity boost makes that unnecessary anyway.

No hard feelings ;-)
I remember that, Angel Valley F and you were Panchovillax. It was 6 laps and you let us get 2 laps ahead before blasting through and beating most of the racers in the end! Back then you didn't have a mic, and your rank wasn't so great either so we all just assumed you cheated.....that was sooo long ago, most of us didn't know proper drift jumping/holding speed techniques then lol

Done it!
Motor City Short Forward is probably the easiest track for this, there's really only a couple of intersections that you've got to be careful to watch for cross traffic. Just decelerate and be an attentive driver....oh, and I did this on PS2 so there wasn't any of those stupid props in the road blocking my vision lol
