Learning to Drive

I started taking driving lessons again a few weeks ago. Its been 15 years since I first got my provisional licence and although I did about half a dozen lessons about 7 years ago I haven't driven since so I am starting from scratch.

I am learning in a Peugeot 207 and Xandu made my learner driver car in Forza.

I have been taking my lessons on Saturday evenings, and as its getting dark fairly early I have needed to use my headlights. The first week I was really nervous and gripped the steering wheel far too tight! When I first got going I had to ask my instructor how fast I was going because it felt really fast and I was too scared to look. . . it was 20mph!

The 2nd lesson was a lot more relaxed and I really enjoyed it, the 3rd was a bit more stressful as I had a lot to contend with. I had to drive along my main road 3 times and it being Margate on a Saturday night it was BUSY! I had to deal with kids on their bikes jumping in and out of the road, overtaking a bus, lots of zebra crossings and traffic lights, a roundabout and on top of all that it was raining! Scary!

I am really enjoying it and am looking forward to going out for a practice drive with Xandu in my mini metro!

Good for you Zombie, I do hope you carry on with your lessons but beware of being co driven by either loved ones or family members as you will test their patience to the extreme. And well done to Xandu for having the gazzongas to co drive you. Dont you hate pedestrians the way they think you will stop for them.

When I read about your 'speeding' worries it reminded me of this. You have to watch the whole thing.

I know what you mean Boot, one of the reasons I stopped learning last time was due to a very bad driving practice with my Mum.

It was the first time I had driven my Mums car, so to be on the safe side we went to the HUGE Sainsbury's car park on Sunday afternoon when it was closed so the car park was completely empty. My Mum held on for dear life and made me so nervous it set me back years!!! But I think Xandu is a little more patient and calm then my Mum, but if it doesn't work out practicing with Xandu I have a couple of friends who offered to practice with me too. And I am much more determined to pass my test now.
