360 or PS3?

I was thinking of calling this blog 360 v PS3, but it's not about a console war comparison thing, so or with a ? seems more appropriate.

What I want to talk about is the Burnout Community, is there a difference between the 360 and PS3? What is the difference? and should I be considering getting a PS3 to join a more active Burnout Paradise community???

In the official Criterion Games forums I am the only Elite Poster who plays on 360. The Xbox Paradise forum is pretty dead. All of the Criterion Games Live Plays would be on PS3 if 360 users hadn't kicked up a stink about it. The front page at CriterionGames.com often runs mugshots of game sessions on PS3. I don't think anyone at Criterion plays regularly on 360.

So, is there a difference in the communities? Do any of you have both systems? which do you use to play Paradise online? is there a difference? what is it? and which is "better"???

One thing about online gaming that keeps you coming back is a feeling that if you don't play you are missing out on something.

Most of the folks who seem to LOVE Paradise are on PS3, so am I missing out on something? What am I missing out on?

Are many, many more people playing Paradise on PS3?? And do they only know Burnout from Paradise? or are they veterans of the series?

With Revenge a lot of PS2 players jumped to 360 to play online, have most Burners now jumped to PS3?

Zom, what you have to remember is that this is the first real experience of Burnout that the PS community have had with online game play.. the PS3 fanboys (no offence, just im a 360 fanboy) or should I be more PC and say Fanpersons, have nothing to really compare it against unless they were a 360 user before, and personally most of the people I know are one or the other rather than both..  which may be why the PS3 community is much more appreciative of the work criteron have done, they actually have a game worth playing on their console..

whereas those of us who have been loyal and followed the series for a number of years (and yes I know Im a noob in that sense as I only started on BO3 TD and the rest of our group started on BO1or BO2) and have developed a real affection for the game play and community on the previous releases.. come to think of it if I haddnt played BO3 I would not have met you and I would not have met so many other people from such diverse backgrounds that share a common love of a game.. and I wouldnt have my Takedown T-Shirt either.. lol

Im not sure if you went to get a PS3 and played Paradise, argh hate having to write that, that it would change your opinion of the game.. that is unless the lads and ladys at criteron actually made differences for their obviously preferred console to make the experience better.. i guess it would be interesting to compare the two side by side to see if the gameplay on the PS3 is better or not..

Im waiting for the next big update before I even put the disc in the 360 again.. and then I will be as patient as I can be with it to see if I can develop the same affections for this the latest (and last?) burnout...

Well I think everyone should get a PS3. Thats my opinion anyway. I have been a playstation fan from the start. I started on the PS1 then PS2 and now the ultimate in gaming consoles the PS3 once again just my opinion. I have never been intrested in the x box series of consoles. I never liked the contollers or all the issues that came with the xbox. I have never had any major issues with the playstation consoles. I played on a few different x boxes of my friends and just could not wait to get back to hassle free gaming. Of course there are going to be people who say the same thing about Playstation as I have about x box so in the end it is just a matter of personal preference.

Thanks Zombie for a good post ;)

I am going to go against the 'pattern' that you usually see here and say that the console, itself, does not really matter.  The games for both systems were built from the ground up to work optimally for each system.

So, when trying to decide which console to get it for, you really only have to consider two things.

1: Which controller do you find more comfortable.  For me, it is the PS controller, but others might find the 360 controller more comfortable.

2: Which system do more of your friends have?  For me, again, it is the PS3.  The vast majourity of my friends bought it for the PS3, even though many (like me) have all 3 systems.

Which community is bigger?  I could be mistaken, but the devs seem to imply that the PS3 BP community is bigger.

Better is a relative thing.  I have had a lot of good experiences with the BP on the PSN.  In fact, I can count the 'bad' games I have had on 1 hand.  But in my experience, games like Burnout tend to not draw the types of players that make other online games annoying.  They tend to gravitate more towards FPS games than racers.

I have also found that the 'bad players' are about the same percentage on both networks.

As for this being the first online Burnout for a PS, Revenge was online for PS2.  Admittedly, the 360's Revenge online community was bigger, but it still existed for the PS2.

Having an Xbox 360, I would definately reccomend a PS3 Unless you really want Halo 3 or some of the Xbox 360 exclusive games, but for just burnout, get the PS3.  It will last longer.

Well i'd say 360.  I know lots of people that have ps3 and xbox, and generally xbox gets played more often by them.   I have played with loads of good people on the 360 BP, they are helpful and helped me get through challenges.

And i have infact seen criterion guys on the 360, its just u can't transfer the mugshots from 360 to pc easily thats y they only tend to be ps3 mugshots
