First timer with B:PC...

I don't own a playstation or an XBox of any type. I'm a long time PC user and game player, going all the way back to the C= VIC-20 (don't laugh!), so I've stuck with the computer as my main source of video game enjoyment.

At any rate, I read all the stellar reviews of Burnout and Paradise City, and when I saw that D2D had it up for sale yesterday, I figured "why the hell not!" since I've been looking for a good game to occupy my spare time. I quit playing all MMO's a couple weeks ago and all my games are just...bleh. Not that they aren't good; I own some top rated titles. It was just that nothing seemed to hold my interest, even games I'd just bought in the last month.

Except to come here and the Criterion site, I can't put Burnout: Paradise City down! I mean, literally, I think the gamepad is going Videodrome on me! It's melding to my flesh!

All that's really missing, I think, is weather effects. I love the day/night cycles and even being to set the the 24 hour compression to various levels. If I didn't have a job, I htink I'd set it to 24 hours. hehe

Here's to hoping that it holds my interest for a long time to come (I'm running out of places to store my unused game disks!)...

Overall have a very favorable impression of the PC version of BP. I am somewhat dissapointed that it will only recognize a XBox controller for PC (per the documentation and personal experience). I have a PS3 style controller made by Thrustmaster that it won't recognize. I can program the controller to use the appropriate keyboard controlls but would prefer native support.

Otherwise pretty much loving it.

Interesting...I use a Saitek 2600 Rumble Pad and it didn't recoginze, per se, either. However, once I manually configured the controller to do what I wanted, it worked fine. It programmed the same way most other games do it for me...with the exception of GRID which was a cluster....you-know-what...for any but the handful of supported controllers (most of which not even really mainstream ones).

*shrugs* Guess I'm just used to having to program my controller. lol

But yeah, I would have thought it would have recognzied a Thrustmaster PS3 style pad...
