I Bought a New Car!
That's right! Amazing as it sounds and after all my complaining about the outrageous pricing, I caved to peer pressure and purchased the Extreme Hot Rod!
I like it! and it did give us some much improved Lap of the Gods times, and I imagine it will be good for other Timed Challenge records, although Rock around the Clock was a bit rubbish last night!!
Was it worth the 400 MS points? well, I'm not too unhappy about splashing my cash, but I would have felt better if it was only 200 MS points instead. At least it gives me something to moan about! 
In other news, the official Criterion Games forum was back briefly over the weekend, leading to some thinking it was possibly returning for good. However today it looks as tho the link has been removed once more. Oh well!

You did the right thing.
Its all the cars rolled into one, and probably the only one worth the money they are asking. Now all you need to do is play paradise once in a while to get the feel of its awesomeness.
And if they do reopen the doghouse forums i'm just gonna be a lurker this time, don't want to be accused of disrespecting Criterion again..lol
