Burnout Revenge Online still going strong!

Burnout:

BurnoutAholics:

We have found a way to get an estimate of the number of unique online users in Burnout Revenge, Paradise and Crash. Which one do you think is most popular now??? It should come as no surprise that the most popular of the three is Burnout Revenge!

Burnout Paradise vs. Burnout Revenge

Microsoft and EA do not publish information about how many users are online in their games. The only information we get is a top 20 online activity list from MajorNelson. This is totally useless since there is no information about the actual number of players.

This is how we did it; 360voice.gamerdna.com has stats for all games on Xbox Live. The 360 Voice community represents about 0.6% of the members on Xbox Live provided there are 35 million active members (this was the last official figure I could find)

We have retrieved the data for 17.03.2012 for the following games and estimated the number of unique users based on the above numbers.

1. Burnout Paradise – 9300
2. Burnout Crash – 2600
3. Burnout Revenge – 13500
4. NFS The Run - 13300
5. NFS Hot Pursuit – 1300
6. NFS Prostreet – 5800
7. NFS Most Wanted  - 3300

Here is the link to the raw data for Burnout Revenge: Burnout Revenge stats

You can choose the game you want from the drop down on the top of the page. You can also look at historical data all the way back to the release of the game (at least if the game was released after the creation of 360voice).

The number of players on Burnout Revenge has more than doubled since EA announced that they were pulling the plug on the game. Obviously these numbers are not accurate but the ratio between the games should be fairly representative of the actual numbers.

That is enough playing with numbers for now! We are really interested to hear what you think about this.

Well i'm afraid that the average gamer signing up to such an online tracking site is considered more "hardcore" or serious than most. I think that amongst these more serious gamers there will be more that play revenge than amongst all users.

Considering all the people on live only for the yearly COD/FIFA, i think that paradise will be more popular. The ultimate pack thing seems to be in almost every single store for 10-15, perfect for a christmas present for your little kid.

being a downloadable helped prolong it's server life I think.

I really have no idea on actual cost, but surely with the economies of scale that EA have it's relatively cheap to run them.

The decision may be based on stats but the human that determined what range of stats to take into account was a management moron making a financial decision. Not someone who's ever played a game they truly enjoy.

The worst thing is EA are scrubbing them out of existence forever since you can't ever direct things to your own servers or use LAN.

I read that on the Burnout Revenge stats page that is linked to. That would be a much higher percentage than the rest of XBL users, so the estimate wouldn't be accurate.

Going by the stats we found and what Alex posted about the figures, it seems half of the Revenge community are members of 360 voice! :)
