Links Spring Clean

I've had a bit of a spring clean over on our links page. Quite a few Burnout community fansites have fallen at the wayside. Sadly, BurnoutCrash.com was one of them. They had some good crash junction guides, but oh well!

I have added links to the IGN guides for Burnout Revenge and Burnout Paradise as they seem pretty decent.

Many of the other forums and fan pages seem to be pretty dead, but I have kept the links there as the pages are still available, and lots of the older info might be useful.

The Blame Game

I'm feeling a little guilty about not playing Revenge enough to justify the servers staying open. I wouldn't say I ever moved on from it, but I did try the new release arcade racing games to see if I could get into them. I did play Paradise for a while and most recently killed some hours on Burnout Crash!

In that time I would jump back to Burnout Revenge every now and then and that made me remember one of the reasons why I don't play it as much as I would like to.

Getting kicked sucks!

Burnout: Eulogy

Burnout has been a big part of my life for a long time now. It all started with the first game, then came the second, on various consoles, then came Xbox Live and Burnout 3: Takedown.

It was on Takedown that I made most of the friends I have now. We made our own Burnout family. We were all excited for the release of Burnout: Revenge. The online experience on Burnout games was incredibly addictive. I would run home to be able to get online and play sooner. We were all hooked!

UPDATES 20-03-2012

Not a lot to report today.

Added a Hall of Shame to publicly out spammers. Their name, e-mail, IP address and location is logged. The information can be found here: Hall of Shame . Do whatever you want with it.

One bug was introduced with the last update where @s were converted into twitter links. This totally messed up the posts and has now been disabled.

That is it for now. Have fun.

Saving Burnout Revenge

Since the news broke about the server close down due on the 13th of April 2012, some of the Burnout Revenge community have taken action to try to save the game.

UPDATES 18-03-2012

We had 10 minutes of downtime this morning as I was upgrading the site to the latest version of Drupal ( version 6.25). The update contained a whole bunch of security related fixes.

As I was upgrading the site I also installed the latest version of the text editor. Again mostly security related fixes + one feature I know some people will like. The editor now has spell checking! Also note that we are no longer accepting HTML formatted text to be pasted in to our text editor.

BURNOUT BURNERS FINAL MEET UP

OK APRIL 9th I WANT EVERYONE ON BURNOUT REVENGE ...... WE ARE HAVING A MASS GET TOGETHER BEFORE THE GAME GOES ..... I AM EMAILING EA AND ASKING THEM TO LET US PAY FOR THE SERVER OF THEM OR TO GET THE SOFTWARE OF THEM SO WE CAN RUN IT ...... WE NEED GAMES ONLINE FOR ALL THAT DAY ..... CAN YOU ALL PASS THIS MESSAGE ON TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW WHO HAS PLAYED BURNOUT ..... NEW OR OLD .... WE NEED AS MANY PEOPLE ON AS POSSIBLE ...... SPEND 5 MINUTES TO GO THROUGH THE LEADERBOARDS AND LAP TIMES .....

Where everybody knows your name...

We are all poorly sick so have been at home mostly watching TV and sleeping. We watched some episodes of Cheers. I really love the theme song and it reminds me of how I felt playing Burnout 3: Takedown over Xbox Live.

Everybody knew my name and they were always glad I came, it was a getaway.... and I really miss it.

Jumping from room to room making friends and rivals, we had a thriving little community going... I miss you old Burners!

Where are you now?
