Final Leaderboards; Burnout 3: Takedown

As well as the leaderboards from Burnout 2: Point of Impact, I also took shots of the Burnout 3: Takedown leaderboards. As well as the top 100, I also took photo's around my rank and around Xandu's rank, to capture as many names as I could. There are also pictures of the Crash Rankings.

As you can see from Xandu's comments, a lot of the top ranked racers used glitches to gain their points. We think the first genuine scores are around the 135 million mark! Some racers put a LOT of hours into this game!

I also took a few photo's showing the last room that I was in, the last 6 racers to play on Xbox Live. And then finally, the last screen messages..."This game can not be played online at this time. Please try again later"

Burnout 3: Takedown on Xbox Live only until 15th April 2010

Microsoft have announced that the Xbox Live service for the Original Xbox and all Original Xbox games will cease on the 15th of April 2010.

This shocking news was revealed by Major Nelson HERE and an FAQ on the Xbox forums can be found HERE

This is the reason given:

"This change will allow us to continue the evolution of Xbox LIVE, delivering features and experiences that fully harness the power of Xbox 360 and the global Xbox LIVE community of more than 20 million members. The best is yet to come, and we look forward to sharing more details in the near future."

Burnout 3: Takedown - No Longer Available for Download

We have just noticed that Burnout 3: Takedown is no longer available to download for new customers as an Xbox Original from the Xbox Marketplace.

If you have already downloaded the game, but then deleted it click HERE for instructions on how to get your download back.

We sincerely hope this is not an indication that EA are planning to sunset the servers. I went online recently so the servers at the moment are still up and running. I believe the best way to keep the servers running is to show that the game is being played regularly.

BurnoutAholics Burnout 3: Weekly Wednesday

Today BurnoutAholics hosted the first weekly Wednesday Burnout 3: Takedown event.

Every Wednesday from about 7pm GMT we will be hosting a BurnoutAholics room on Burnout 3: Takedown. This room will be a variety of racing and road rage with a variety of different series locks. We might even throw in some crash junctions!

Please look out for us on Wednesdays, if the room is full, please send us a message, or just host your own room! Hopefully we will be able to get enough people playing to get a few rooms going!

See you Next Wednesday!

Burnout 3 Takedown game guides

We have been in touch with Weil3r that originally wrote some brilliant guides for Burnout 3: Takedown that was published at burnoutelite.com. Since that site is no longer active we asked Weil3r if we could re-publish them here on BurnoutAholics.com.

We got his permission and the guides have now been made available. You can access them directly from the links below:

Burnout 3: Takedown

Burnout 3: Takedown, obviously the third game in the series, was released on the 7th of September 2004 in the US, on the 10th of September 2004 in Europe and Australia and 14th of October 2004 in Japan. The game introduced "always on" boost, meaning you no longer had to fill your boost bar before being able to use boost, but the most important introduction was the name of the game.. Takedowns!

Weil3r's Guide to Boost Jumping

"Boost Jumping" - Burnout 3 Takedown

By Weil3r

Any time your wheels leave the ground in B3, there is an opportunity to get a little extra speed by 'boost jumping'. Please note that if you are just holding down the boost button, you will not be able to boost jump. You must release it and tap it at the right time.

For small little bumps in the road, you have to release and tap the boost just before you hit them to get extra speed (in a Euro, this will typically boost your speed to 214-220 depending on how well you timed it).

Weil3r's Guide to Utilizing the Brakes

Utilizing the Brakes - Advanced B3 technique

Burnout 3 Takedown driving technique (best to be used in conjunction with the World Circuit Racer):

By Weil3r

This technique is recommended for turns that require significant drifting and turns which the World Circuit Racer has difficulty taking tightly due to it's tendency to slide wide while drifting.
